Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 5/12/14

Alan Weiss’s Monday Morning Memo® – 5/12/14

This week’s focus point: There is only one response to a new idea, and that’s to see if it will work for you. You might find that it won’t, or it might with some tweaking, or it definitely will. But if the first thing you do is destructive–searching for exceptions–and you respond with “but,” “yet,” however,” and “actually,” you’ll never lead the pack and may never leave the starting gate. Some people’s default position is to find the exception, to inform you of the typo, to suggest that it’s not 100 percent guaranteed. Don’t let these people “but” up against your success. Leave them in the dust where they’ll have plenty of small particles to examine minutely, and plenty of time to do it.

Monday Morning Perspective: Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. — Nietzsche
