We made a trip to Tianamen Square and the National Art Museum. We found an enchanting stream along the way, but that was the last enchantment. The military presence is overwhelming. As Americans, once spotted, we were rushed through security lines without problems. But the crowding is frightening. At a long line in the museum entrance, I was pulled out as if I had a first class ticket (tickets are free) and escorted ahead of hundreds of people and whisked through security. But they wouldn’t let Maria do the same, so I had to wait for her inside!
