CSS Hunley

CSS Hunley

This is the first submarine to sink an enemy ship, the Confederate submarine Hunley. This feat wasn’t accomplished again until 1914. The Hunley sunk all three times it was used, and was recently found and placed in this preservative bath. The interior was 48 inches high, within which the small crew cranked the propeller.
