Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me

Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me

This is probably my character flaw, but one of the most irritating things I find on Facebook, that is also totally self-absorbed, is people “marking themselves safe” when some disaster or tragedy strikes their general geographic area. It’s as if everyone has stopped what they’re doing wondering if that person was harmed by the hailstorm.

If you’re concerned about loved ones being worried about you, write to them. But you don’t have to proclaim it to the Facebook universe. It just seems so arrogant—”You can stop worrying, remote acquaintances and strangers, I’m okay.”
