    Alan,
    Well said.

Alan, you now know what life’s like for a fish! Thankfully for them it doesn’t make much difference …

Now I’m pretty sure that you know the issue is about engaging. That is to say, keeping people’s interest – and you’re engaging. The very way you speak keeps the ears open. Jasper who is a lecturer at the university in Amsterdam does precisely what you complain of. Only – his students expect to be taught that way. School was as dull, so why should uni be any different? Their minds are being pummeled into a small box through years of persistent activity by their elders and betters. By the time they’re teaching themselves, they wouldn’t have a clue what you were on about – let alone do it.

As you suggest, there’s a lot more to being in the groove than … being in a rut!

But people are lemmings. They need to stop following leaders headed over a cliff.

I agree entirely – the very real problem is that these leaders themselves are being led. They are not always being led by people with their best intentions at heart. Blinded by their own shortcomings – greed, lack of imagination or whatever – they think they’re doing the right thing so charge ahead.

Until the bottom of the cliff comes into focus, by which time it’s too late. And the deceiver is well away.
