(The Dog Star is a symbol of power, will, and steadfastness of purpose, and exemplifies the One who has succeeded in bridging the lower and higher consciousness. – Astrological Definition)
Bentley and I play Frisbee daily if the weather is good. I keep the disc in an outdoor shed and once I open that door he knows the game is on. He could play endlessly, but I restrict it to once a day.
However, German Shepherds are working dogs by nature, and if you don’t give them things to do they will create jobs for themselves. In this vein, if anyone at all joins the dogs in the yard, and there is no Frisbee, Bentley will run behind the trees to his stack of sticks, choose one, and bring it over to drop in front of you. Should you refuse to throw the stick, he picks it up again and drops it on your feet. When you get rid of it you have also entered a game of fetch. He is quite insistent, weighs 80 pounds, and can run 32 mile per hour. You’re better off working with him than trying to avoid him.
We hang around too often waiting for gnostic signs from a buyer (or, much worse, an assistant or secretary). We don’t go find out own sticks (value) and drop them on the buyer’s feet (gain attention).
I’ve never yet seen Bentley sit by the phone waiting for someone to call to play fetch.
