Haircuts (Step Away from the Scissors)

Haircuts (Step Away from the Scissors)

I’m having my hair cut and the customer in the adjoining chair is telling her beautician that she’s quite a successful consultant. And she’s explaining that in a voice that wouldn’t be allowed in a library. (My hairdresser is smiling because she knows what I do.) Here’s the conversation:

Me: You’re a consultant? What kind?

Her: Yes, and I work with whomever needs me.

Me: What is your expertise?

Her: People.

Me: Productivity, performance, selection, wellness?

Her: Anything.

Me: Have you ever read Million Dollar Consulting?

Her: No, and why would I, you can’t make a million dollars in consulting.

Me: Why not?

Her: You would have to charge thousands an hour every week. Not possible.

Me: What if you didn’t charge by the hour?

Her: That’s how you charge in this profession.

Me: Would you like to hear another method?

Her: No. (To her hairdresser: Are we ready for more color?)

Hilarious. I wonder if her clients are as open to her ideas as she is to other people’s ideas?

Reinforces the points you made in the “Wrestlemania” post.

As you always say you just can’t make this stuff up. Wow.
