Herrington: Dumb-Ass Stupid Management

I just tried to place a $500 order with Herrington, which sends me two catalogs every month. Three of the four items are on backorder, so I cancelled the transaction. How can you misjudge demand and inventory needs to that degree without ruining your margins? I’d hate to be an investor in this place.

If you go to the expense of mailing me hard copy catalogs, maybe you should have a better sense of supply and demand and what it takes to keep customers happy. After two “on backorder” responses, the phone rep said on the next one, “You want to guess about this?” I’m guessing she was facing this frequently, and my DASM hall gleefully accepts Herrington as a new member.
