Houston

I hope you’re all considering sending whatever donation you can for relief services in Houston, primarily for people, but also for animals.

Unfortunately, we’re about to see the tragedy worsen as people learn how totally inadequate flood insurance is in the US, in terms of acquisition, claims approval, and amounts paid. It’s an inadequate program, poorly run, and nowhere on Congress’s radar.

Agree it is an inadequate poorly run program Solely because their is a single payer. Private insurance won’t touch it because it permits homeowners to build in a flood plain, but the government (your tax dollars) will insure it. What private capital would hedge/insure that bet? Here’s hoping this isn’t what is in store for US health care on its way to single payer.
