It’s Not Your Mother’s Fault

It’s Not Your Mother’s Fault

How did that US government invasion of Texas go? I must have missed it on the news.

Lincoln Chaffee, the goofball ex-governor of Rhode Island, famous for switching parties and insisting that Christmas Trees be called “holiday trees,” is running for President. That’s like—well, I can’t think of any analogy that crazy. But that is what happens when your daddy left you a lot of money.

A guy on Facebook who’s an art director and admits he “makes peanuts” argues with me about why it’s better to charge by the hour rather than for value. You can’t fix stupid.

I’ve become acculturated to turning off or unplugging anything that has stopped working well, because of that genius internet and computer advice. It just worked with my pool heater.

I don’t answer questions such as “Thoughts?” or “What should I have asked you that did not?” They are intellectually lazy and don’t deserve a response. (In an interview, they are a deal-breaker.)

I don’t care how much money you make, if you’re afraid to spend it because you’re not convinced you can continue doing it, you’re not a success. You’re a scared rabbit.

Dogs run through open gates and adjust to what they find. They don’t do a needs analysis, run a survey, or calculate risk. They seem to know that, sooner or later, someone will come along and close the gate.

I know it’s all the rage and maybe you have to read the books, but Game of Thrones on TV is confusing, often lethargic, and repetitive. And now we have still more zombies, The Walking Dead on steroids.

The current David McCullough book about the Wright Brothers and the invention of powered flight is superb.

Dizzy Dean, legendary baseball pitcher: “If you can do it, it ain’t braggin’.”
