Library Takes Shape

My old train room (and son’s former bedroom) is taking shape as my new library. It’s about 80% complete. Some of the old train scenery remains on the far wall. More furniture and books to come.

So where are you putting the trains?

The are in climate-controlled storage about 10 minutes away.

The book collection looks fantastic. What do you estimate it to be in size?

  4. Alan Weiss says:

About 2,000 books in the library, and another 1,000 in my den.

    Single largest category: fiction.

    Alan:
Do I see, in the lower left corner of your photo, a set of the Aubrey/Maturin novels by Patrick O’Brian? So you are another fan of one of the most delightful series of novels in the English language – the 18th century language no less. I am midway through my second reading, and will be re-reading them until the day I die. Glad to find a fellow “Surprise”!

You have a good eye, I’ve read them all including the unfinished one. Recent teleconference on extraordinary people I did included him as one.
