More Scammers in Brooklyn

There is a scam on trademarks from “ThePatent and Trademark Office” at #213, 8225 5th Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11209-9851. They claim money is due to perpetuate your trademark, but the small print makes clear they have nothing at all to do with the government and are just collecting your money for no reason whatsoever. There is a paid envelope enclosed, so I suggest you return it empty so that they do incur the postage expense!

If they were smart, they wouldn’t be running a scam.

  1. I received something similar in the mail in Australia a few weeks ago. Don’t know if it’s the same group. I think the letter was also saying it would list your patents globally, or something. Binned it with an “I don’t think so!” They must be trawling through registered trademarks and mailing the owners. Letter openers beware.

  2. I’ve previously printed here the crooks from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and elsewhere who request thousands to “update” trademarks. It’s totally bogus, but my lawyer says they get enough naive people sending them money to make the scam worthwhile for them.
