Pulling the Trigger

Pulling the Trigger

I’ve dealt with a lot of people with great intentions, but who can’t “pull the trigger.” Their eye is on the target, the weapon is in fine shape, and the conditions are ideal. But they don’t fire.

They don’t sign up for coaching. They don’t commit to the workshop. They put off the book project. They talk, plan, review, set a date—and never pull the trigger. “I want to close another contract.” “I’ll be in a better place in six months.” “I have to finish some current projects.” Those are excuses, not obstacles.

My corporate prospects said similar things. I told them, “Why on earth would you delay the benefits this project can bring for six more months? Nothing in your business is mutually-exclusive.”

You may have a great gun, belong to the best gun club, and have wonderful reflexes. You may aim superbly well and have a fine stance. But if you don’t pull the trigger, the target is never hit.
