The Correct Wine for Hot Dogs

The Correct Wine for Hot Dogs

Our granddaughters are sleeping over, so we decided to stay in tonight (we took them out last night to a restaurant on the water, and were rewarded with a swan cruising over for a handout). My wife is a superb cook, she just doesn’t cook. But she made world class hot dogs, which required a 2006 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, itself a world-class wine. It is, trust me, perfect for hot dogs.

For years we have occasionally have had a “hot dogs and merlot” night. Much more pedestrian than your Chateauneuf du Pape!

In twenty years, I never regretted moving to Italy, but boy… what I wouldn’t give for those hot dogs with sauerkraut & mustard!!

They go well with a nice Amerone.

Great wine is great wine, and I don’t need much of an excuse to consume it. The pretension over special foods and so forth really leaves me cold, just as people who sniff a cork, which tells you nothing.
