Facebook

Facebook

I’m continually astounded by the lack of serious education displayed on Facebook by people who don’t understand socialism, throw “fascism” around as if it’s all around us, find conspiracies under all the rugs, and seem to believe there is only one good answer—theirs—for every problem.

Then there are the people who, when questioned, become violent as if attacked and unloose a barrage of obscenities.

Facebook serves a perverse purpose in displaying what is otherwise hidden in terms of bias, ignorance, and vulgarity. It has given license to people to display those traits publicly.

Last week, someone was arguing (profanely) that Bill Cosby was framed, he was trying to buy NBC and frightened white people, so they concocted the stories of rape. The drugs he used were fine, because “everyone was doing it” and all those women had consensual sex with him. And these kinds of rants aren’t unusual.

B.T. Barnum: “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”
