Higher Tech, Higher Touch

I purchased the iPhone X because I enjoy having the latest Apple phone and I bought Apple originally at $17, the best investment in my history. So, I’m kind of loyal.

The phone came with a minute set of suggestions for use, and an online tutorial. However, it also comes with an offer of a free, personal, interactive session with an expert. I made my reservation (I had dozens of times to choose from on various dates), clicked on the link provided at my appointed time, and was asked to wait for a minute. I was looking at a picture of two purported Apple employees, a man who somehow looked both nerdy and hip at the same oxymoronic time, and a heavily tattooed woman who was strikingly hip.

“Mike” then came on the phone, told me we had 30 minutes but that I could come back for free as many times as I liked over the next 90 days. He put his own phone on my desk top screen, I followed with my phone in my hands while I listened on the speaker of my landline phone. (They call you.)

In about 12 minutes all of my questions were answered, including about the strange “3D touch.” I asked if some of the features were deliberate or the engineers just happened upon them. “Though to say,” said Mike.

We signed off and I continue to feel wonderful about the way Apple treats its customers. And, by the way, facial recognition is a hoot and camera buffs (of whose clan I do not belong as a “point and shoot” guy) will find the new camera amazing, I’m sure.
