Tis the Season to Delete

Assuming that you’re converting your computer (and physical files) over to 2018, don’t just store everything from 2017, THROW OUT whatever you don’t really need, and you probably need less than you think. Too many consultants keep every scrap of communication, every email with every client, as though they’ll be called to a Congressional investigation in the near future.

What you basically need for clients of recent vintage is their contact information, your signed proposals, your non-reimbursed expenses in working with the clients, and your bank statements showing their payments to you. Toss the rest.
