Two Invigorating Moments

Two Invigorating Moments

1. At the Amtrak first class lounge in Chicago’s Union Station, a husband and wife with four children entered not long before their train was going to be called. Either they paid no attention or were quite deliberate, because they carefully laid out a ton of paraphernalia and began to read to the kids and play with them. They ignored the call for the train, and one of the hostesses had to prompt them to board. They packed up in a great hurry at that point and took off out the boarding door.

About ten minutes later, a woman sitting nearby noticed the man’s wallet still on a table. She opened it to find the ID and found thousands of dollars. She called the hostess, who called a train official, and they found his seat number and car and rushed the wallet to him just before departure. The woman, who was thanked by Amtrak people, simply said, “You know, that’s the second time I’ve had to do that in a train station!”

2. Picking up my car from the valet at the Marriott where I ran my courses, the cashier told me the charge was $35.20 for the day. I gave him a hundred dollar bill, and he quickly returned. I figured he didn’t have the change.

“You gave me two hundreds by mistake,” he said, and smiled.

Restores your faith, doesn’t it?
